Wolf and Wild Canine Sanctuary (Visit this link)

The Wolf & Wild Canine Sanctuary is a federally licensed, non-profit and tax exempt facility, founded by Pete Porter in 1986 to rescue unwanted, abandoned and illegally imported wolves. In the past, like many other organizations, this sanctuary has taken in wolf dog mixes. However, since there are so few licensed facilities for pure wolves, we are currently limiting our incoming to pure animals. Now they are here forever and not mistakenly here to "return to the wild"!

At present, there are 6 animals housed here. They range from pure Timberwolves, pure subspecies Arctic wolves and wolf/dog crosses of various percentages. We do not breed, buy or sell any animals; please do not ask!

Each kennel is 16' x 30' x 8' of 9 guage chain link with 6" fiberglass reinforced cement pads, with double-door, locked vestibules. All kennels have a roofed area for shade and cover from the rain/snow and tennis court netting providing additional shade at one end. Each doghouse is 2 tiered with a lower enclosed area and an upper roofed platform.

All kennels have stainless steel water buckets and gravity feed feeders. An 8'3" 9 guage chain link fence and electric dig out wire surround the entire perimeter. The lower section of the Sanctuary is fenced, with 1/2 acre of woods and field for an exercise area. We also installed a 10-foot deep pond that the animals will be able to swim in someday (as soon as its perimeter fence is in place).

The animal's main diet consists of Pro Form premium dog food, high in protein. This is supplemented with prime rib that is donated by AJ's, an excellent local restaurant (Sykes Ave. White River Jct.,VT) fresh, roadkilled Whitetail deer provided by VT Fish and Wildlife, that the animals make short work of!
