Swim, Waddle, Hop, Fly, Swing, or Slither Down!
To Our Children’s Zoo! There’s so much to do, you’ll have to come back again and again to do it all! The new Children’s Zoo invites visitors to use their imagination and learn about the new animals now calling our Zoo home. Visit Penguin Coast to get up close and personal with our feathered friends, the black footed penguins. The penguins play on the coast, but it is really fun to watch these flightless birds propel themselves through the water. You can venture to the Australian Walkabout and mingle with the gray kangaroos and wallabies, or visit the Wings of Wonder Aviary and meet and greet the colorful lorikeets. These birds are one of Australia’s most unique species, having some of the brightest feathers and most interesting social behaviors. But don’t take our word for it, come learn about these birds and see for yourself how unique they truly are. Relax and enjoy animal shows that star some of our education animals in the Wild Things Theater. Take a trip to Gator Bayou , which replicates a Louisiana swamp shanty, and get up close and personal with an 8 ft. American Alligator. You’ll see him face to face through the glass window. Spend some time “monkeying around” in the new children’s play area. On a hot summer’s day, you can splash around in the new Children’s Nature Garden. This fun garden is full of colorful flowers and grasses for you to smell, has a hand pump for you to add water to make the stream flow, and has lily pads for you to step across like a frog! You’ll definitely want to climb Mystery Mountain, a place where you can stand tall on the rope bridge at the waterfall and wave to the train passengers. You can also explore inside the mountain and visit with some of the littlest of Zoo critters. Travel to the Adventure Center where several animals live and play! Geoffrey Tamarins and a 14 foot reticulated Python will greet you as you play with interactive Zoo Job stations. So what are you waiting for? A Children’s Adventure awaits you at the Erie Zoo!

The Erie Zoo is accredited by the American Zoo and Aquarium Association (AZA).

The Erie Zoo is home to over 500 animals, representing more than 100 species, from around the world. Winding walkways take visitors through the beautifully landscaped grounds which feature 2500 specimens from 600 species of plant.
