The animals at John Ball Zoo represent the wilds of Africa, Asia, South America, and the United States.

Exhibits at the zoo are Jambo Africa, Peter C. and Pat Cook Mokomboso Valley Chimpanzee Exhibit, South American Boardwalk, North American Trek, Herpetarium/Nocturnal Animal Building, Van Andel Living Shores Aquarium, and LV Eberhard Adventure World.
