At Hamilton Zoo take time to see the wonders of the living world in a wildlife sanctuary renowned for its generous habitats and a New Zealand approach to conservation.
Enjoy the largest walk-through aviary in Australasia, landscaped with New Zealand native plants. Located at the heart of Hamilton Zoo, the FreeFlight Sanctuary provides a safe haven for endangered native birds.
A realistic Waikato wetland is recreated at the lower end of the zoo.
Hamilton Zoo takes part in breeding programmes for native and exotic endangered species, helping to conserve the irreplaceable treasures of our world.
Hamilton Zoo offers beautiful garden settings, paved pathways and boardwalks. The ideal place for recreational visits, with guided tours by arrangement. Facilities include the Moa's Ark Cafe, bus and campervan parking, souvenir shop, barbecues and wheelchair access.
A wheelchair and a mobility scooter are available for loan while in the zoo. If possible, book ahead to ensure that they are reserved for your visit.
