We offer whitewater rafting trips and river rafting tours. The James River drops 105 feet over a seven-mile stretch in Richmond Virginia, creating class I - IV whitewater!

The class I - IV whitewater hosts a convenient recreation experience for rafters and kayakers. The James River runs directly thru downtown Richmond and is known as the “best urban whitewater” in the US. No other city in the US has class IV rapids within its city limits.

Rafting is a means for the inexperienced and experienced paddlers to enjoy this unique outdoor activity. Exciting class IV whitewater alternates with tales of local tradition, historic sites and scenic beauty to make your outing an adventure.

Our professionally guided paddle raft trips range from mild to wild. Your guide will share their skills and knowledge of the river to help you enjoy this unique urban experience. You can participate in a prescheduled trip or have us arrange an activity for your business, church, school, or private group. Previous experience is not necessary for our outings.

Located in Richmond, Virginia, Richmond Raft is an hour's drive from Williamsburg, Fredericksburg, and Charlottesville, and about two hours from Northern VA, Washington D.C., and Virginia Beach. Hotel and camping accommodations are available if you are coming to Richmond from out of town. Our location offers the amenities of a growing city with many historical and adventurous outings.
