Montana Whitewater was started in 1991 by a small group including Bill Zell, an Outdoor Educator and corporate refugee. Bill still enjoys guiding and is out on the Gallatin more days than anyone, making sure the trips run smooth and enjoying his first love, paddling. If you are lucky enough to get him as your guide, you will have the most fun possible!
Our primary concern with every river experience is safety. All of our trips are lead by an experienced and knowledgeable guide. Our professional staff has been running the rivers of the Western US for years.
As a smaller company, we can be selective about our staff. The solid team and diversity of the guides gives us the confidence to run people safely down the rivers and make people feel like part of our little family. We enjoy having fun and do our best to do more than just shuttle people down rivers.
We have a campy reverence for the legendary people who have worked for us in the past. We are not pack rats but we do appreciate old gear. Visit our Museum!
