River Runners (Visit this link)
We have safely guided more guests than any other outfitter in the state of Colorado. We have two river offices serving both the upstream and downstream sections of the Arkansas River. At River Runners our focus is on your safety and enjoyment. We are happy to have a diverse group of people who work with us and love what they do. We realize that our guides are the liaison between you and our company and we insist that each staff member be of the highest caliber both on and off the water. Many of our staff members are college bound individuals who will work for us during the summer before pursuing other goals. However, many other members of the staff have been with River Runners for over fifteen years or more. We feel they choose to stay with us due to the unique work environment and quality of life. If you should choose to join us for an adventure we are confident that you will appreciate your experience with us and will come again. These are just a few of the reason why we are “The Whitewater Professionals”™.
River Runners uses only the best possible equipment. Our fleet is comprised exclusively of all self-bailing rafts. This means that you are able to sit back and enjoy the excitement and splendor of the river without the need to bail after each and every rapid. Our self-bailing rafts are also a safer type of craft enabling us to guide you through more challenging sections of river than were possible ten years ago. All of our guests are provided with a United States Coast Guard approved personal floatation device, which is a fancy way of saying “lifejacket”. These are designed for participants who are over fifty pound but have a chest circumference of less than fifty-two inches. All of our guests are provided with helmets for our more challenging runs in the Numbers and the Royal Gorge. At River Runners we feel that this is a practical safety precaution. We also recommend that our guests wear wetsuits on all of our trips both as an added safety feature and to maintain personal comfort. In addition to this strong recommendation we require the use of wetsuits on our Royal Gorge and Numbers trips at certain water levels. All of our equipment is maintained and older equipment that is deemed inappropriate for our operation is retired.
All of our guides receive a rigorous training regiment in order to become a River Runners guide. In many instance the requirements we have are in fact greater than that which is required by the State of Colorado. In addition to having the solid hard skills that make a guide proficient at their trade we insist that they have an understanding of customer service and appreciate the varied client base that we serve.
