Betsy Ross Tours (Visit this link)

Betsy Ross Tours has been operating comprehensive tour packages since 1980. Our company launched to serve those groups who prefer working with a small company that takes a personal interest in the specific goals and needs of each group.

Our services include:

Transportation – We will arrange for luxury charter motorcoach service to pick up your group in the school yard, and transport you to the Nation’s Capital, and carry you throughout the sightseeing. This vehicle will be "yours" for the duration of your trip. Often these vehicles are equipped as are airlines: with individual armrests, lights, air controls, and video monitors. Always there is a restroom aboard!

If you prefer, we will assist you in arranging for airline or AMTRAK reservations and tickets. In this case, a hired coach will meet you upon arrival in the Washington, D.C. area, and transport you thereafter according to your itinerary.

Some groups choose to utilize our subway system, called Metro, for transportation while in D.C. While this saves on bus costs, generally it takes a little longer to get from place to place. Some groups like this aspect! They prefer a slower pace, and believe "Less is More." Still, some sights are not Metro-accessible, and we must hire a coach for certain events or occasions.

Whichever method of transportation you select for your group, prepare the parents that your students will return home far more worldly than when they left for the trip, and with a vastly different view of your hometown!

Lodging – BETSY ROSS TOURS plans each trip individually to suit the goals, objectives and budget of each of our groups, thus we have established relationships with a wide variety of hotels in the greater Washington, D.C. area. We receive favorable rates and terms, which we pass along to our groups.

Meals – We include ALL meals in the package price to be certain that the students have the opportunity to eat 3 meals daily, and to be sure that students need not choose between a souvenir and a meal!

Breakfasts generally are in your hotel. This way you don’t have to get up so early, plus you can return to your rooms before departing for the day.

Lunches are usually in food courts, which are familiar to most groups and offer abundant choice. If a student can’t find something (s)he likes to eat in a food court, there may be something more going on than the choice factor!

Dinners range from cafeterias, to food courts, to table service restaurants. It depends on the group, and on the occasion!

Wherever we confirm your meals, we try not to duplicate meal sites, and we try to be certain that a choice exists wherever possible.

Guide/Escort Service – Your Tour Guide will meet you at a designated location upon arrival, and will be with you to conduct the sightseeing tour throughout your trip. He or she is responsible to fulfill your sightseeing goals!

Itinerary Planning – You tell us what your sightseeing priorities are, and we will do our best to structure your itinerary to fit them all in! Your goals here must be realistic, however!

You will have fewer crowds if you travel between November and February, which means you can see more sights! If you travel in high season, you may need to make spontaneous decisions about touring priorities as a result of long lines at some attractions. Be assured that your Tour Guide will advise you as necessary!

Appointments & Reservations – You will benefit from having confirmed appointments at many sights and attractions. This governs your time, of course, but it guarantees your admission! However, competition is fierce for coveted appointments, and advance lead time is critical to success. We will assist as best we can to guide you where you need to apply personally and where we can take over for you.

Some of the sights that require appointments include Capitol, Holocaust Museum, Newseum, Navy Memorial, White House, Bureau of Engraving & Printing.

Entertainment – AKA What we do for fun in the evenings!

Theater options abound! There are Dinner Theaters, traditional theaters, off-beat theaters, historic theaters, Shakespeare Theater, repertory theaters!

For you water rats, the Potomac River is the setting for traditional Dinner-Dance Cruises and Teen Dinner-Dance Cruises.

For you landlubbers, we can arrange a DJ-Dance Party either in the hotel or at an off-site location!

There are Family Entertainment Centers, offering "virtual" sports, which the kids will love and the adults will endure!

Wildly successful with student groups are live Comedy Improv, and professional sporting events!

And, one evening we will do the Monuments by Moonlight Tour, always a memorable highlight.

In summer, all manner of FREE FUN exists! There’s the Twilight Tattoo, the Evening Parade, Sunset Parade, plus military band concerts at different locations.

Hall Security – A special Security Guard will be on the floor of your hotel to see that no one enters or leaves any room in your room block on your hall after curfew – You determine the curfew! This person also assists however necessary in an emergency.

Miscellaneous – Ask us for something not mentioned here, and we will do whatever we can to make it happen for you! This we call the flexibility factor.
