Extreme Tow surfing World Champions, The Willis bros., are recognized world wide for tow surfing the largest swell ever surfed i.e. the hallmark of all swells Biggest Wednesday (Hawaii's second ever condition black). Milton Willis and Michael Willis were the only ones to go out twice, first in the morning and again in the afternoon, finishing their session at Sunset Beach, the only ones to do so.
Recognized for paddling into some of the largest ever recorded waves during the state of Hawaii's first ever condition black. Based on buoy readings, meteorology reports, eye witness accounts and photos, surfing magazine declared the Willis bros. "unofficial winners of the K2 big wave challenge."

First to teach tow-in surfing on the north shore of Oahu, the Willis bros. introduced Ross Clark Jones, Tony Ray, Cheyne Horan, Garrett McNamara, Mike Stewart and more to the sport of tow-surfing.
The Willis bros. established the first surfing P.E. in the United States of America in public high schools with coach Al Southworth at San Dieguito High School in Encinitas, California in 1972.
Credited for successful actions in the most dramatic rescues in surfing history. Michael Willis is credited with saving the life of legendary Kauai surfer Titus Kinimaka. Michael also rescued Oahu's David Kahanamoku from the Waimea shore break, pulling him to safety. Milton Willis is credited with hundreds of rescues on the north shore of Oahu and has received a certificate of life saving merit from the City and County of Honolulu.
In 1998 the Willis brothers pioneered big wave surfing lessons on the North Shore of Oahu. Big wave surfers the Willis brothers have worked with along the way include Australian surfers Ross Clark-Jones, Cheyne Horan and Hawaiian surfer Clyde Aikau. In 2000 they coauthored “Become a Surfer”. Today they continue to educate and inspire others by writing, lecturing and consulting on the fascinating world of surfing.
