Kansas State University Parachute Club (Visit this link)
KSUPC (Kansas State University Parachute Club) or Skydive K-State is the oldest Collegiate club in the United States. Since our beginning in the early-1960's, KSUPC has also been the only Collegiate club to own and operate their own dropzone, which includes our aircraft and all equipment. Located in Wamego KS dating back to the 70's KSUPC has become a well known name to the skydiving community and since the fall of 1999 privileged to own our own plane, a Cessna 182 wide body.
A continuing KSUPC tradition has also been the participation in the Collegiate National Competition, where members of our club compete against other collegiate skydiving clubs, the Army and Airforce. Each year we proudly send members of the club to either Eloy Arizona or Lake Wales Florida to compete.
KSUPC currently owns nine parachute rigs: seven student rigs and two transition rigs. All are 9-cell square ram air main canopies with 7-cell reserve's. Each is equipped with an Automatic Activation Device (AAD), a computer that will deploy your reserve canopy if you are incapable of doing so (used as a back-up device only). All our gear is club owned, and maintained by gear rental and club dues ($35 per semester). This is very inexpensive compared to other dropzones, who generally charge $15-25 per jump.
Just because our prices are low doesn't mean our training is inadequte. Our prices are so low for 2 reasons: a) we don't charge the expensive per jump gear rental. b)all our staff are there on a volunteer basis. If you were to look at our prices, they are exactly double what an experienced jumper would pay, that's because all you'r paying for is your jump and your instructors jump. If you require a packer they are available for $5 and packing is already included in your first five jumps.
