Tandem skydiving is a marvelous way for first time jumpers to experience the thrill of freefall with only a few minutes of instruction. As a passenger you will be in the hands of a professional skydiving instructor. A tandem skydive is a jump where the student is connected via four harness attachment points to the instructor's harness. Throughout the freefall, parachute flight, and landing, the instructor will ensure that the skydive is as safe, exciting, and rewarding as possible.
Just a few minutes of instruction is needed to make your first tandem skydive! The tandem experience begins with a short video and a few minutes worth of paperwork. You'll be introduced to one of our USPA certified instructors. After a short briefing the two of you will then "Gear up" and head to the plane. It takes nearly 20 minutes to reach altitude and the plane ride yields a beautful view of the valley.
Once the plane is at altitude the pilot will turn onto "jump run". That is, he will fly the plane over the targeted landing area. Together, the two of you will make your way to the door, and with a "ready, set... go!" you will exit the plane. Freefall lasts approximately thirty seconds, and is the memory of a lifetime!
When the parachute opens the roar of the wind settles to a gentle breeze. The parachute flight lasts around five minutes. During this time the instructor will brief you on landing proceedure. For some, the parachute flight is the most enjoyable facet of the skydiving experiance. Depending on your need-for-speed, the instructor can demonstrate the impressive performance of modern parachute technology, or fly passively for a more relaxed flight. It's your skydive, and we want it to be as enjoyable and memorable as possible.
Landing is easy, as parachute technology has advanced in huge strides. The old days of brutal landings under round parachutes have gone away like eight-track players. We fly nothing but reliable and highly maneuverable square parachutes. All of our "rigs" (parachute packs) includes two parachutes, a main and a reserve, as well as a computer- controlled activation device which would activate the reserve parachute should an instructor be unable. At Skydive Idaho we strive to offer the best in experiance, professionalism, safety, fun.
We hope that you will let us show you the skies. Thank you for your interest in a sport we are passionate about.
There are probably as many reasons for skydiving as there are skydivers. For some people, its to conquer their fears and push themselves to new limits. Others find a sense of boundless freedom, self expression, and perspective. As a sport, there are many disciplines, including relative work (formations), crw (parachute formations), skysurfing, accuracy, freeflying (like snowboarding was to skiing), and others. Skydiving is a wonderfully sociable sport. So whether for thrill or aesthetics, first time jump or weekend hobby, we welcome you to the skies with us.
Complete training from first jump through advanced skydiving -- our professional instructors will be there each step along the way, helping you to become a safe and knowledgable skydiver. We offer accelerated FreeFall, Tandem Progression, and Static Line Progression training. We are currently the only dropzone in the valley offering AFF instruction.
Students learn about skydiving equipment, freefall skills, parachute flight, emergency procedures, and other responsibilities. Students learn to perform turns and flips in the air, fly their own parachutes, and land without assistance. Upon graduation from training, students continue to learn and improve upon existing skills by jumping with experianced skydivers.
