Sundown is a BIG beautiful Mountain Resort just west of Dubuque, IA. It is the only National Ski Areas Association Award of Excellence Resort in the midwest and the skiable vertical from our highest chair lift is greater than the skiable vertical of all resorts in Illinois, Missouri,Iowa and Minnesota south of Duluth, and all but 2 in Wisconsin. On a clear day, you can view 30 miles into Wisconsin, 5 miles east of Platteville to Galena and Chestnut Mountain, 28 miles away, in Illinois. Two mountaintop lodges overlook 21 scenic trails carved out of a century old cedar forest reminiscent of Colorado. New 4-lane expressways connect us with Madison, Des Moines,Cedar Rapids, St. Louis and Peoria. Chicago is 4-lanes except for 50 miles. Dubuque has many exciting attractions and over 1700 hotel and motel rooms.
