Winter is on the way and we have made some great changes to add to Monarch's overall experience. We’ve widened some trails and added an additional 130 acres of awesome backcountry (extreme) skiing in Mirkwood Basin. This is an exciting change that we have been working on for quite some time and we’ve now opened the gates to our die-hard skiers/riders who are looking for new, challenging terrain. Did you say powder? We've got plenty of it here at Monarch because we still only use Mother Nature’s snow for our guests to ski and ride on. On a good snow day you just can't beat the all natural powder here. Monarch is also known to have some of the best tree skiing in the state, so be sure to check it out before the locals ski off the fresh stuff!!
Monarch Mountain is now open year-round. Although our lifts do not operate in the summer, we have the ski area lodge available to use for private functions such as weddings, work retreats, reunions and more. Be sure to stop by and see what's happening during the summer here on the mountain. We are here Monday-Friday so feel free to come on in and say, "Hello." We love to show off what we have to offer!

Monarch has something for everyone, from some of the best backcountry ski and snowboard terrain in Colorado to family friendly terrain ideal for children and beginners. Monarch’s friendly staff, all natural snow, and laid back atmosphere all add up to equal a great deal and excellent value to your ski and snowboard vacation.
LEARN TO SKI- For those who are new to skiing and snowboarding or just want to improve their skills, our Ski and Ride School is one of the best. The professional and patient instructors at Monarch are here to help you learn to ski and ride in a fun, non-threatening environment. We’ve added a surface/conveyor lift this year to make learning to ski and ride even easier.
Our instructional programs are diverse, productive, and fun for all ages and abilities. We can help the first-time skiers as well as the advanced rider, individual, group, or family. We have both adult lessons (ages 7 +) and children’s lessons (ages 1-6) as well as specialty programs like Mountaineers and Shredders.
SKI AND SNOWBOARD EQUIPMENT RENTAL- Don’t have your own ski and snowboard equipment? No worries. Our ski and snowboard rental department has an excellent assortment of skis and snowboards as well as accessories to fit all sizes and abilities from beginner to expert. This year we have the unique Burton “Learn to Ride” snowboards, specially designed to help you learn to snowboard more efficiently and quickly.
GROUP SKIING- Do you have a group interested in an exciting group ski vacation in Colorado? Great, we love groups. Our experienced group sales staff is ready to make your group a great deal and keep your trip hassle free. Let us do the work while you enjoy the all natural snow instead of the headaches involved with coordinating your group trip.
BACKCOUNTRY SKIING AND SNOWBOARDING- For those thrill seekers out there, Monarch has opened the new expert only Mirkwood Basin. Monarch’s backcountry terrain is full of steep trees, open bowls, cliffs, and glades. This new terrain is sure to put a smile on your face! Monarch Mountain also has two terrain parks on the mountain featuring rails, fun boxes, and huge hits. The jibbers out there will never grow tired of this endless assortment of things to slide on.
