New Wave Snorkel and Scuba Center is proud to announce that we are the only full time PADI Five Star Instructor Development Center in Northwestern Ohio. Professional Association of Diving Instructors is the world's largest scuba diver training and certification organization. PADI has established stringent criteria to insure that all 4800 PADI Dive Centers world wide maintain a high standard of professionalism.
New Wave Snorkel and Scuba Center is a complete professional dive center that engages in a full line of snorkel/scuba equipment, equipment consultants, equipment service and PADI snorkel and scuba instruction (from Open Water to Instructor and beyond).
Our instructors have always been PADI certified instructors, but by New Wave Snorkel and Scuba Center becoming a PADI Five Star Instructor Development Center, we gain world wide recognition throughout the diving community, with one of PADI's 990 Course Directors on staff we offer a wide range of instructor programs from basic instructor to master instructor.
New Wave Snorkel and Scuba Center has demonstrated a commitment to PADI education by offering ONLY PADI certifications. Twenty seven of these certifications are recognized by (ACE) American Council of Education: therefore, these twenty seven certifications are eligible for college credit.
Over 70,000 certified divers are registered in Ohio. PADI issues nearly 990,000 each year world wide. More than a half of the new certifications were issued to women. It is clearly easy to see that scuba diving is no longer a "man's sport". There is a growing trend toward couples taking scuba classes together leading to romantic exotic diving vacations, also children are taking scuba at an alarming rate that leads to many exciting family vacations.

New Wave Snorkel and Scuba Center has shown a strong community commitment by donating many hours, equipment and lectures to non-profit organizations such as Divers Alert Network (DAN), Muscular Dystrophy, Diabetes for Children of North West Ohio, MAST (Maritime Archeology Survey Team), PADI's Project Aware, Put-in-Bay underwater clean up, 4H of Ottawa and Erie county, Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts of America, The Ottawa County Sheriff's Underwater Rescue & Recovery Team and many local schools swimming, water safety, and job outlook programs.
