Oregon Paragliding (Visit this link)
Paragliding is aviation for the common man. The Paraglider is the world's most versatile aircraft, able to: fit in the trunk of a car, be checked on an airplane, be carried up a hill, be launched and landed almost anywhere. The paraglider is your own, personal aircraft. In a matter of days and for less than $5000, you can own your own equipment and attain a license that will enable you to go and fly, anywhere in the world!
Oregon Paragliding and Alex Mc Alister are dedicated to making safe proficient pilots out of serious candidates who have the time, energy and resources to pursue this type of aviation in the appropriate fashion.
LEARNING TO FLY...
Learning to fly paragliders is no small undertaking. While the aircraft is extremely easy to use, the fine points, advanced skills, judgment and attitude that are necessary, are not easily attained. Every student pilot needs a guide, mentor, instructor, partner and friend that will insure that all of these areas are developed, that no details are left out.
The Oregon Paragliding Pilot Program is a complete and comprehensive course that allows the student to progress at his/her own pace. There is no limit on the number of lessons that it takes to make a person into a proficient, thoughtful, licensed paraglider pilot.
PILOT PROGRAM- Successful completion of the Pilot Program earns students a P-2 license from the United States Hang Gliding Association (USHGA). The P-2 is a license to fly without instructor supervision. The open ended program includes all of the necessary training including; ground school, simulator training, lots of hands-on with the equipment, a minimum of 25 solo flights, and instructional tandem flights.
OPTIONS- We also offer a 2-3 day introductory course. This will include ground school, simulator training, and hands-on time with the glider leading up to several short flights. This course is generally enough to attain a P-1 rating with USHGA. P-1 is a license to fly ONLY under instructor supervision. Monies paid for the 2 day course can be applied to the P-2 program.
TANDEM TRAINING- For those who want an introduction to what paragliding is all about but cannot commit to two days of instruction, we offer tandem flights for $125. The tandem flight consists of a short briefing followed by a 30-45 minute flight (weather permitting). If good soaring conditions are not available, you may receive several shorter flights instead. During the flight the pilot will explain what he/she is doing, and allow you some hands-on control of the glider. A tandem flight is ideal either as a training tool, or for the person seeking an exciting one-time experience with minimum commitment.
