Butler County History Center & Kansas Oil Museum (Visit this link)

The 10 acres of outdoor exhibits include over 20 pieces of oil field equipment that range in age from the 1920's to the 1950's. In addition, 8 historic buildings are incorporated to interpret the social history of Butler county and Kansas Oil.

In the museum’s main building, discover those who lived on the land with exhibits dedicated to Butler County’s pre-historic and Native American life revealing early inhabitants utilizing the land. Photographs and artifacts of farming and ranching show settlers devoted to the land. Farmers who quickly established the county’s agricultural identity and ranchers who grazed their cattle on the rich native bluestem grasses of the Flint Hills. Farming and Ranching were essential to the economy, but it was oil that placed Kansas on the map. Oil was the source of growth and prosperity for Butler County and Kansas.
