The UIMA collections come from cultures that are far apart both geographically and chronologically, but they share a common drive to seek meaning in the world around us. The makers of these objects chose to represent aspects of experience which seemed most significant to them. Examining those choices and the contexts in which they were made allows us an insight into various human understandings of the world.
