We are located in Lawton, Oklahoma and serve as Central Oklahoma’s premier Hang Gliding School.

Wide Open Sky Hang Gliding will tailor a hang gliding lesson program to suit your needs. Students train at their own pace. You can train daily or spread your course over weeks or months. All equipment is included... glider, harness, helmet and wheels. Radios are introduced at different levels.

We have many lesson options available to suit your schedule and budget. From Introductory Lessons, to Tandem Flights, or all the way to your first Solo Flight from altitude!

Throughout human history, man has gazed into the sky and marveled at the birds and their ability to fly through the air. It was only within the last 100 years that saw successful flights by man. From the first glider flights by the Wright Brothers, to our flight to space our century of flight has brought the flying experience to man in many a varied ways. But no flying machine has so captured our imagination as the hang glider... for it is the hang glider that truly captures the essence of bird-like flight. No motor, no noise, just you and your hang glider, gracefully flying through the air.

Wide Open Sky has been serving the hang gliding community from Lawton, Oklahoma since April of 2002. Providing quality hang gliding instruction, reasonably priced service, and timely equipment sales has been the key to our past successes. However, like any successful enterprise, we can’t rest on past successes and must look forward to future challenges.

In July of 2005, we did just that. Two sole-proprietors, one well known and one not so well known, merged to form Far Up Adventure Sports, LLC. We will still be doing business as Wide Open Sky Hang Gliding but have plans to offer Hang Gliding and much more to adventurers, young and old, near and far.
