Clare Caravan Park (Visit this link)
The historic town of Clare is situated among wooded hills of the northern Mt Lofty Ranges at the head of a plateau valley. Prior to white settlement there were a number of Aboriginal tribes in the region including the Kaurna, the Burkanendi and Nagadjuri.
In 1839 Edward John Eyre travelled through the central valleys of the region. His reports led to the later settlement of the area by pastoralists. An Irishman named Edward Gleeson settled in 1840 at a place he called Inchiquin. The following year the Hawker Brothers chose the site for Bungaree Station - now one of Australia's foremost Merino Studs. In 1844, John Hope, also of Ireland, settled at "Wolta Wolta". Our Park is named after one of his descendants, Diana Christison .
