The Gemtree have everything you need - equipment, experienced local guides, gem cutters - AND YOU WILL FIND GEMS!

At Gemtree we will do everything to make your gem hunting experience fun, exciting and rewarding. Tag-Along tours depart Gemtree every day to the surrounding gemfields of Central Australia. With the right equipment and the local knowledge of our guides you will soon be finding your own gemstones.

You have a choice of fossicking for Garnets or Zircons - both beautiful gems and your choice is probably the hardest part of the whole exercise. The pigeon blood red garnets of the Centre were thought to be Rubies when first discovered in the late 1800's. Although this soon proved to be incorrect the Garnets are a beautiful gem in their own right and look stunning when cut and set into jewellery pieces.

Zircons have almost as much brilliance as diamonds and are often confused with the man-made Zirconias. The natural Zircons of Central Australia come in a wide variety of colours (similar to the Argyle diamonds) and are a thrill to find and own.

Finding your own gems is easy - and getting them cut is even easier. At Gemtree we have on-site gemcutters to add the sparkle to what nature has created. You can watch them at work skilfully and professionally bringing the brilliance to the gems that have been found.

The Gemtree has a large display of local gems - in the rough, cut and set into the latest design jewellery pieces.

If required your gems can be mounted into the setting of your choice. Imagine the thrill and satisfaction of wearing jewellery containing gems that you found!

A true oasis in the semi-desert mulga country of the Eastern MacDonnell Ranges. Incorporating 100 hectares, the Gemtree Park has retained a spacious semi-bush setting whilst maintaining modern clean amenities - important for your comfort. Other basics such as laundry, fuel and mini-store are also available.

After a day of fossicking, relax under the stars around your campfire. Wood is provided and there are fire pits and Bar-B-Q's generously located throughout the Park.

Gemtree offers a wide choice of accommodation options to suit your needs. Secluded bush camping sites for the feeling of being the only people around! Powered and unpowered sites are scattered among the mulgas - all the required facilities without being "jammed in". Air-conditioned cabins offer a level of comfort to ensure your Gemtree experience will be memorable.
