Sea World (Visit this link)

The original Ski Gardens were established by Keith Williams in 1958 on the Nerang River, west of Surfers Paradise. This show was transferred to the present site on Sea World Drive, Main Beach, where it has continued since 30 October 1971.

The attraction was totally man-made on an area which was originally swamp and sand dunes. The park has undergone continuous development since 1971 and is now jointly owned by Warner Bros., global entertainment industry leader, and Village Roadshow, Australia's premier film distribution and exhibition company.

Over Sea World’s 34 year history the multi-award winning 25-hectare theme park has found a niche in the hearts of many visitors as the quintessential Gold Coast theme park experience, and conjures warm memories for generations of families around Australia and the World.

Sea World is the only theme park of its kind to successfully combine education, environmental awareness and entertainment into such outstanding attractions as Polar Bear Shores, Dolphin Cove, and the awesome new Shark Bay.

Since its inception in 1971, Sea World has continued to touch people in a way that no other theme park can, by offering personal and unique educational and interactive entertainment experiences that allow guests to take away something special every time they visit.

But Sea World is much more than family fun and entertainment.

More than 25,000 students flock through the park each year as part of marine, tourism and science educational studies.

Sea World's research and rescue team takes on countless whale, dolphin and turtle rescues each year and participates in valuable research into the marine environment. The Sea World Research and Rescue Foundation works closely with the Federal Government and CSIRO on important research projects for the conservation of Australian and international marine life.

Sea World has consistently made an outstanding contribution to the Queensland and Australian tourism industry, and has been rewarded for these efforts with a permanent place in the Tourism Hall of Fame.
